No Team? No Problem!

OKRs create powerful incentives for teams. But, what if you don’t have a team?

MY OKR Project creates a team of people who want to support each other to get more done. When you join, you agree to make your goals transparent to me and team members who will cheer you on, get energized by your success, and be your support team.

MY OKR Project will give you structure, feedback, clarity, and a team to help you be accountable. You can choose who you want to be on your team. If you want, I can be your team. If want the support of others like you, achieving goals on their own, looking for a community of people who want to get more done, MY OKR Project is building that community.

A diverse team is an asset to any project. Team members each add perspective. Since every project is ultimately about impacting others, a team is a great testing ground for new ideas or new versions of whatever you are doing. It’s a built-in test audience that will give you feedback without judging.

There are a lot of good reasons you might not have a team. You might be working in a team or organization where your manager is less engaged or less innovative than you are. You might be part of the gig economy, reaching goals on your own and owning your flexibility. You might be in a sole proprietor, sole practitioner, or solopreneur running your business or offering services to your clients with no need for a support staff or very little support.

Rules for team feedback at MY OKR are clear. There is no negative feedback–ever. There is positive feedback and there are questions. Positive feedback will look like clapping hands, a thumb up, or “awesome!”

Questions might include:

  • “Why did you do it that way?”

  • “What did you intend when you used that word?”

  • “Can you clarify what the purpose of this is?”

Team members are there to get you to see what you might miss on your own. They are also someone friendly you can just say hi to as you start your day so that you feel connected and encouraged.

Whether you opt to have me or include others on your team, our job is to help you clarify and consider options for making your results better.
